'BULEVARD3 on Sunset Strip' teased audiences Sunday night Sept 14th with an amazingly provocative burlesque-style dance production that boasted an eclectic mix of movement, from classic to modern jazz, pop to electro-rock and ballroom to hip hop, even martial arts and a stunning aerial display.
The narrative centers on a wannabe actor played by Leslie Jordon, who like Dorothy traverses a modern day yellow brick road called Sunset Blvd in Hollywoodland while seeking fame and fortune. He is befriended or guided by various characters portrayed by a remarkable cast including Bruce Vilanch, Wilson Cruz, Jai Rodriquez, Sean McDermott, Robert James Hoffman, Kato Bonner, and famed drag persona Momma. Joined by an eye-candy cast of professional dancers all strutting their stuff on stage to benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles and The Actors Fund.
A Greyhound arrival introduces Leslie Jordon to popular LA personality, Momma, who welcomes the newby to Hollywood. It doesn't take long before Leslie stumbles onto the self described love child of Shelley Winters and a Muppet, Bruce Vilanch, selling road side maps of star homes, while being shaded from the hot sun, by the even hotter George of the Jungle II star Christopher Showerman. While drifting through the world famous film city, Leslie comes across Sean McDermott and a legion of sexy fireman and then stumbles onto Hookers Landing where Travis Payne, Wilson Cruz and Jai Rodriguez offer a good time in an all male version of "Big Spender." Bruce Vilanch enters again, only this time as a palm reading psychic who advises him that although he has potential it will be tough as "They aren't casting Munchkins anymore."
Leslie's path crosses LA landmarks such as Sky Bar, The Comedy Store, Numbers, Garden of Allah before meeting up with the cast of 'Sordid Lives,' Ann Walker, Dale Dickey and Sarah Hunley at Saddle Ranch.
