Carnival Rehearsal

Choreographer's Carnival is a showcase where dancers and choreographers can perform without any limitations. Rob has performed many times, and most of his dance videos can be found on youtube. The most famous is probably the Yes Dance, which he performed as James Precious with Kato Bonner in January of 2007. Most of his Carnival performances really showcase the style of dancing he did in You Got Served and Step Up 2 the Streets.

But I found one video where you can really see his talent. You can totally tell that he had some classical ballet training. He didn't perform this at Carnival because of scheduling conflicts and Brian Friedman took his place for the show. Too bad, I think the audience would've been very pleasantly surprised, although I'm sure most of the audience was made up of other dancers who already know how talented he is.

Be sure to check out the quad pirouette at 1:31. He makes it look like it's the easiest thing in the world. But if you've seen him do 15 pirouettes, the quad was probably really easy. And although he's off camera for it, he does a double tour in the beginning, just as the guy says, "do everything." [He also did a double tour in Step Up 2, in the wife-beater solo scene when he's just about to start workshopping, and he also does one in the "behind the scenes" bit of She's the Man when he's dressed up in his soccer uniform. In that one he also does a few graceful dance moves before doing his double tour, but upon landing, he missteps and falls to the grass, sending Channing into hysterics. If you haven't seen that, rent the DVD to see it]
