Step Up 3D

According to Jon Chu's twitter, they are currently filming Step Up 3D in New York City. Without Rob. Wha???? Not even a cameo?

Here's an official blurb from a casting site:
When the Maryland School of the Arts (MSA) goes to Paris for an international dance competition, one of the dancers - Moose - misses his flight back to Baltimore. He soon makes friends with an American away from home and a beautiful French sophisticate. They introduce Moose to the red-hot Parisan underground dance scene, and before long he is wowing the local dancers with his unique moves as they prepare for an underground dance competition. With time running out before the big event and their routine stolen by a rival crew, Moose turns to his loyal MSA crew in Baltimore for help. Can Moose, the MSA crew and the French crew pull together a new dance number at the last minute? And will it be good enough to beat the world’s best street dancers?

The film stars Adam Sevani (From Step Up 2) and Alyson Stoner (from Step Up), Sharni Vinson as Natalie, Rick Malambri as Luke, and Stephen Boss in the role of Jason. So, my guess is that Chase and Andie have graduated and live happily ever after.

It'll be interesting to see how SU3D does at the box office. SU2 did better than SU earning $148,424,320 vs. $114,194,847 [source: box office mojo], so we'll just have to wait and see how SU3D does. Opening date: 8/6/2010.

Now, just a personal observation... I've heard in interviews with Rob that he was the one that suggested they look at Adam Sevani for Step Up 2 as Moose, who was originally supposed to be an overweight African American according to the original script. Adam sent in an audition tape and he was cast as Moose. In this interview with Jon Chu, he says, "We even got people off Youtube, like Adam Sevani [who plays "Moose"], he was a friend of Robert's and Robert had him record himself and send it to me. When I saw the video, I was like 'that's the guy!'" Rob also hired Adam to be in some of his Carnival performances when he was really young (he looks like he's 12 in one of them). Now, I thought it was pretty interesting to note that Rob follows Adam on Twitter, but Adam doesn't follow Rob. Hmmmm... just an innocent oversight?

[I'm not going to link to any of Rob's videos that I think might be offensive to some of the younger fans - including the videos of Adam performing with Rob at Carnival - but you can find them on youtube yourself.]
